Digging up

Another outfit before my hair cut. Today we had a really cold day, it was early 40's, thats like shivering cold for us in the bay area. And as always I suck at judging weather( did I tell you to make my life easy my husband has gotten me a temperature reader/thermometer at home, which clearly shows me the temperature inside my house and outside) ... and still I almost always manage to be either overdressed or under dressed for the weather. Anyways today it was still manageable as I was not outdoors much.

I had gone to Borders to do some work, but its kind of impossible to concentrate when the person next to you refuses to use a tissue and just keeps sneezing and clearing his throat....not pleasant, had to leave as there was no place else to sit.

Dress:India; Jacket/Coat: Thrift; Shoes: India; Bag: Kohls; Necklace: India

Today I also went to Ross for the first time, I keep going to Marshall's but somehow never went to Ross, which is strange considering they are in the same complex, and considering my crazy need to compare things and their prices.
Anyways I went there in the evening, the store was a complete mess, but I still managed to find myself a great clutch. It had its strap missing but I bought it anyway assuming I could definitely find a similar detachable strap from one of my gazillion bags, plus I got an additional discount on it. Now the problem is I cant seem to find any strap that can go with it...as i dont have the exact shade.
Should I return it or just use it as a clutch and not bother about the strap.
I forgot to mention this just cost me $12:-)

Color Splash

I have a couple of outfit pics taken before I got my hair chopped. This is one of them. I remember that day I started with the blue skirt which I found at a vintage shop but when I wore it, my husband told me I looked like a granny, I looked in the mirror and couldn't agree more with him. The skirt was too long for me. Ideally I should have changed and wore something else. But I don't know there are days when I am too stubborn to give up on a particular item, like this skirt, I was determined to make it work, So I folded it up from the waist to get it up to my knee length. Then I went on to add the red top. The mustard cardigan was the last addition to the outfit.

I think I have never worn these many colors in one outfit before(6 to be exact), but I really like the way it all worked out. It looks all too bright maybe, but I like it.

Skirt: Vintage( I think); Top: Express; Cardigan: Forever; Pumps: India; Bag: some online store

This is the close up of the bracelet I won at the contest hosted by Life in Travel. Love it. Its so versatile, I can dress it down and wear it with a pair of jeans or can rock it with a great dress.
This necklace is from Jaipur, India. Its pure silver and very heavy. But its design and the blue stone.

What do you guys think....is it a bit much or just right?
Hope all of you are having a great weekend, I know I am.

Spoiled by the Sun

Hey Ladies

Today I had been working on the computer the whole day and was very impressed with my productivity. So around 4 in the evening I decided to go out for a cup of coffee at Peets( I ain't that fond of Starbucks) with my husband who also was working from home. The weather has been really good for the past few days and it feels good to be out on a crisp winter afternoon. This is what I wore.

Sorry for the shabby lighting. All the blame falls on my husband and his lack of patience. And trust me these were the best of the lot. All the colors look so different. In reality the scarf is dark gray with silver stripes, the jacket has pink, blue and green tweed like woven pattern.

Tank: Marshalls; Scarf: Express; Jacket:Liz Clairbone(Thrift); Leggings: Forever; Boots: India

Hope all of you are had a great week.

Incredible India

I know this is not fashion related, but its too beautiful..had to share it with you guys.

Cozy Comfort

It was a cold day by California standards. And my feet still hurt really bad from yesterday's incident so i chose to be super comfy.

I picked up this sweater on a pure whim from the thrift store, although I liked it, i was sure that I probably will never wear it.But I liked today's result. These boots are very old and very comfy and i wanted that especially since my toes are all taped up.The leggings are a different story all together, they are very old and hit my legs mid calf. I wanted to wear coke leggings with this sweater, but since I have no other I thought of wearing these with the boots and no one can tell how funny they look.

Btw who all saw the Project Runway finale....I was expecting Irina to win, although her final collection wasnt my favorite. Who was your fav designer this season. This is the first season of Project runway that watched religiously from the very first episode so thats why I am so up to date on it.

Sweater: Thrift; Leggings:Old; Boots:India; Scarf: India

Also finally got the dvd of The Proposal today. I missed the movie when it was in the theaters and have been dying to watch it since.
Hope you all had a great week. Yay for friday!

Bled for Fashion

As in literally...Today we had a beautiful sunny afternoon. And I wanted to get my threading done, since I didnt have my car today, I decided to walk. A really good idea....good for your health and your spirit but bad...very bad for you feet. I took extra precaution and wore flats for the outing, but made one little mistake I took out a pair of brand new shoes that I hadnt worn out. After the 1st ten minutes they started to pinch which I tried to ignore, another mistake, half way through I sat on a bench to check and found both my ankles blistered and bruised. Thankfully I always carry band aid and Dr Scholl's tape with me, which helped a lot. But the best is yet to come, after the painful 2 mile walk I was told at the salon that there is wait of 2.5 hours.......I wanted to scream!!!

But as they say there is a silver lining to every ugly grey cloud...there was a thrift store in the complex and I found a great theory blazer, a velvet jacket( that i fell in love with the moment i saw it and reminded me of Kyla's jacket), one maroon Ardeb B coat and one pair of red pumps that I had been thinking of buying. All of this for like $30.
Enough to bring back the smile....but the 2 miles back to the house were even more painful with the heavy shopping bags.

Ohh and btw these are the shoes in question......dont look that harmful in the picture though...

I stitch in time saves nine

There was a time when I used to be really proud of my time management skills but of late managing my time efficiently, has been my biggest concern. For the past one month I have been struggling with keeping my priorities in order. and the first thing that gets neglected is this blog, I hate to do it, i hate to be sporadic poster, but life just seems too overwhelming.

Personal issues aside, lets talk about the outfit, I wore this a couple of days back, i do have few more recent outfit pics but have not downloaded them to my comp. So that's why thought of posting this one. Wearing shorts with tights is a trend that I didnt wear last winter so I grabbed the first chance to wear some tights with my shorts this season.

Tshirt: Aeropostale; Shorts: Old; Jacket& Bag: Thrifted; Mary Janes: Urban Original; Tights: ?

And I almost forgot to mention...that I was the lucky gal to win these amazing pair of boots(courtesy Moxsie.com) in a contest hosted by lovely Hanh of Life in Travel. But....

there is big but...unfortunately they didnt have the boots in my size, but the people at Moxsie were so sweet they gave me an option to pick up anything i liked from their site. I chose 2 beautiful bracelets, cant wait to show them to you once they arrive.
A big big thanks to Hanh for the contest.
